The Indianapolis Podcasters' Guild

So, I had this hair-brained idea about two years ago (when I started Indy In-Tune): Essentially there was a group of us, all podcast fans, who used to go to dinner every couple of weeks and just shoot the breeze, getting into these really off-the-wall conversations about the strangest, obscure stuff, while simultaneously playing practical jokes on the wait staff (changing seats, constantly asking what salad dressings they had, swapping empty and full drinks between each other, etc).

Eventually we hit upon the idea of recording these outings -- on location at a random restaurant each week -- and putting them out as a podcast with rotating hosts, no set topic, and general random weirdness. I reserved the domain "dinnerwithgeeks.com" thinking we could pull it off as a restaurant review thing, maybe get matching t-shirts, give free schwag away to wait staff who play along, etc. As with many of my ideas, however, the key people seemed to lose interest after a fashion.

Any takers for actually getting that off the ground? Sort of make it an Indy All-Star Podcast?

If you add "Theater" to the title of "Dinner Geeks", I'm in! Although, I hate torturing waiters and waitresses, so we'd better leave a pretty big tip each time. I might actually know a couple people who would help get this idea off the ground in a roundtable discussion, and McKinzie knows the restaurant critic for NUVO, so it would be nutty if he'd be convinced to come along sometime. And it wouldn't have to be anything fancy necessarily. "Here we are outside the gas-station parking lot, eating some hotdogs and nachos in my van, talking about the local scene, comic books, and any franchise starting with "STAR".

Better spell it THEATRE with the RE at the end, because that seems "classy"... Or maybe poorly educated.

And twice a month, with guests you (we're) inviting... Who's going to pick up the tab? That could get pricey, especially if we're actually doing "for real" restaurant reviews. I think it's a fun idea though, just keep me updated and I'll show up to eat some food and pull a prank or two... :)

Idea... We both invite somebody, and, respectively, pay for the tab... You can't really have guests and expect them to pay for their meal, conversation, and pranks... 4 people, me, you, and we invite a guest each, once or twice a month, from the "local scene".... ??? That actually might be pretty interesting, entertaining, and create a small "viral buzz" for INDY review purposes. Get a few shirts made up, hats, thongs, etc. A few give-aways for guests and people who have to endure our silly antics................
